Description

The Hoya retusa is a Hoya in disguise. In fact, most people might doubt it is part of the family.

This flat tube-leafed trailing plant is an absolutely bizarre-looking Hoya, but is an absolute statement piece. Bushy in nature, it trails well and produces single star-shaped creamy flowers with dark pink interiors.

Hoyas can be easy to look after if you maintain a good routine and keep it out of direct light and darkness. The Hoya Retusa is even easier to look after. It can cope in slight less than medium light. Want to make more plants? The Hoya Retusa is easy to plit from the roots, allowing it to be shared and easily propagated.

As with other Hoya, the retusa does well in orchid mix. Its roots can grow very quickly. So check it after the growing season. Avoid potting hoya in terra cotta, as they are known to grow into the porous pots. In this case glass and platic works best. If you use coated or glass planters ensure they have drainage holes.
